Some of the best days in the car community aren't planned months in advance. Sometimes all you need is a full tank of gas, a good road, and a group of people who share the same passion.
This past weekend we took the WRX up Angeles Crest Highway and made our way to Newcomb's Ranch. As always, the drive itself was incredible. The sweeping corners, mountain scenery, and cool morning air reminded us why this road has become one of Southern California's most iconic driving destinations.
What made this trip even better was the variety of cars that showed up.
Everywhere you looked there was something different. Ferraris, Porsches, Corvettes, Supras, BMW M2s, Mustangs, motorcycles, and plenty of Subarus. It didn't matter what badge was on the hood, everyone was there for the same reason: to enjoy the drive and appreciate the automotive community.
At KCG Motorsports, we're heavily involved in the Subaru scene, and that's something we're proud of. But experiences like this are a great reminder that the car community is much bigger than any one brand.
It was refreshing to step outside our usual circle, meet enthusiasts from different backgrounds, hear about their builds, learn why they chose their platforms, and simply have conversations about cars. Whether someone was driving a six-figure Ferrari or a lightly modified daily driver, the passion was exactly the same.
That's what makes events like these special.
Cars have a unique way of bringing people together. You can spend hours talking about suspension setups, wheel fitment, road trips, or your favorite driving roads with someone you've never met before. Those conversations are what build the community.
For us, this trip wasn't about who had the fastest car or the most expensive modifications. It was about enjoying one of California's greatest driving roads, meeting new people, and remembering why we all got into this hobby in the first place.
We'll definitely be making more trips through Angeles Crest, and hopefully we'll see even more familiar and new faces next time.
Until then, drive safe, respect the roads, and don't be afraid to branch out from your usual crowd. You never know who you'll meet or what you'll learn.
